We believe that there are several ways for students and teachers to go about acquiring intercultural skills. Not all of them involve travelling to faraway places.
The crucial first step is developing what we call ‘intercultural self awareness’. We think that you must first become aware of your own default behaviors and habits before you can start adapting them to your new surroundings. This is why we have developed the Globi working method for teachers’ intercultural development. Together with your colleagues you will get started on a number of concrete assignments, the completion of which will help you highlight the purpose and meaning of your own internationalization project . You can also use our method in order to review other groups’ current internationalization plans and strategies.
A board game designed with high school students in mind, that will challenge them to think about dilemmas and respond to situations from all around the world. The game will transport students in novel and puzzling circumstances that will stimulate them to rethink many of their previous approaches to intercultural communication.
